My Easy Go-To Chocolate Banana Protein Shake (Tastes Like a Milkshake!)

There are a few non-negotiables in my post-workout routine—and no, tragically, it’s not my dedication to finishing with 20 minutes of cardio or stretching. Nope, for me, it’s all about getting in my protein goals, and this chocolate banana protein smoothie is my favorite way to do so. In fact, I love it so much that I often don’t wait for my workout days to enjoy one.

I often use affiliate links in my blog posts! That means if you make a purchase through one of my links, I might earn some money (which I will use to buy the coffee that fuels me to write even MORE content for you —superduperfast), at no extra cost to you! Thank you for your support!

Whether I finished my workout, or I’m heading to work and need a quick snack, or I just have a sweet tooth, this smoothie checks all the boxes. It’s simple, satisfying, and most importantly, made with real ingredients that support my health goals without sacrificing taste.

I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years, and let’s just say… not all of them were created equal. Most made me feel bloated, others had (very) questionable ingredient lists, and a few just tasted like chalk.

Call me a protein snob, it’s fine. I am who I am.

But once I found Equip Prime Protein, I was hooked. It’s now a daily staple in my diet—and a key ingredient in this fab smoothie.

The Recipe

Here’s what goes into my go-to chocolate banana protein smoothie:

  • 8 oz raw milk (or any milk you love)
  • 1 scoop Equip Prime Protein – Chocolate flavor
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • A dash of vanilla extract (to bring out even more chocolate flavor, somehow)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional – but great for fiber and satiety!)

Blend everything together until smooth, pour it into your favorite glass, and sip like you’re having dessert for a meal. (Because you kind of are.)

Why I use Equip Prime Protein

When I first heard about beef isolate protein, I was skeptical.

I assumed it would taste weird or… meaty. But Equip Prime Protein tastes like rich chocolate—not beef—and the texture is super smooth, with zero grittiness or weird aftertaste.

(Here’s a fun little reel of me and my cats making an Equip Prime protein shake together, if you’re curious)

What makes it different from other protein powders is how clean the ingredient list is. The chocolate flavor I use has just a handful of real food ingredients—nothing artificial, no gums, no emulsifiers, and definitely no junk.

It blends well, even without all the additives you usually see in protein powders.

Let’s hit the highlights, yeah? Here’s what you get in every scoop of Prime Protein:

  • 21g of complete protein from grass-fed beef isolate
  • The nutrition equivalent of eating 4 oz of grass-fed beef
  • Naturally rich in collagen and gelatin to support your joints, skin, and connective tissues
  • No added chemicals, fillers, or artificial sweeteners
  • Paleo, carnivore, and keto-approved
  • Made low and slow—just like bone broth—to preserve the nutrients

If you’ve ever struggled with whey or plant-based proteins upsetting your stomach (hello hi it’s me), this one might be a game-changer. It’s made with just real food, no allergens, and is much gentler on digestion. For me, that was huge.

Smoothies made simple (and low key addictive)

One of the things I love most about this smoothie is how easy it is to customize. Some mornings, I’ll add a scoop of peanut butter for healthy fats. Other times, I’ll toss in some frozen blueberries for extra antioxidants.

But even on its own, this recipe is so good. It’s naturally sweet from the banana and chocolatey from the cocoa powder and protein.

And with 7 different Prime Protein flavors (including a 1-ingredient unflavored version), there are endless ways to mix things up. I’ve tried the iced coffee and cinnamon roll flavors too, and they’re insanely delicious.

Whether you’re adding them to smoothies, Greek yogurt, or even mixing a scoop with just water, the flavor is always so smooth and tasty.

Real ingredients, real benefits

What I love most about this protein powder is how clean and simple it is. The unflavored version has just one ingredient (grass-fed beef isolate!), and every other flavor—like chocolate—has just a few real-food ingredients. No gums, no junk, and no artificial aftertaste.

Why beef over whey, pea, or other plant-based protein powders?

Beef protein is packed with the collagen, gelatin, and micro-nutrients your body actually needs. These work to repair your joints and soft tissues in ways plant proteins simply don’t. And studies show that beef protein may provide added benefits for strength, muscle growth, and fat loss—more than whey.

Simply put, more beef protein results in…

  • Faster workout recovery
  • All-day energy
  • You feel full for hours
  • Better skin, bone, and hair health

It’s also Paleo, carnivore, and keto approved, if that’s your thing.

Oh, and here’s my more long-winded Equip protein review if you’re, like, desperate for more deets.

Petition to make protein shakes taste like self care milkshakes

This chocolate banana smoothie is more than just a post-workout snack—it’s something I genuinely look forward to. It’s sweet, nourishing, and supportive of everything from energy levels to gut health to glowing skin.

Whether you’re trying to hit your protein goals, recover faster, or just need a healthy breakfast that keeps you full and focused, this smoothie is it. And Equip Prime Protein is the real MVP behind it.

Let me know if you try it! And if you’re curious about Equip, I’ll just say: it’s the only protein powder I’ve stuck with—and that says a lot.

‘Til next time, you little wellness baddie. Smooches.
