DIY Holiday Self Care Gift Basket She’ll Love

DIY Holiday Self Care Gift Basket

In July 2018, I was just about to move to a new city all by myself to start a brand new job. So my best friend made me the PERFECT gift basket as a present for my birthday. It had everything I needed to make those big life changes and practice self care while I was going through them. Well, 2020 has basically been the Year of Crazy Changes. And I can guarantee that you deserve something nice because, for lack of a better phrase, it’s been a total crap-fest this year. 2020 has worn on each of us differently. So, inspired by my friend, I’ve created a Gift Guide for DIY Holiday Self Care Basket so YOU can create the perfect holiday self care gift basket for anyone who might need it.

This gift guide and round up post has present ideas for anyone (yourself included) who is long past due for some self care and/or is in need of a major confidence boost. You can use this guide to create an impressive holiday gift basket for your friend, your mom, your sister, your girlfriend, or –just throwin’ this out there–add a little something to your shopping cart for yourself as well ; )

Holiday Self Care Essentials:

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life

This book was part of the birthday self care gift basket from my friend, and let me tell y’all: It basically changed my life. This book will shake you out of any “woe is me,” pity party thoughts or habits you’re holding onto and give you that friendly-yet stern shove you need to start building a life you love. Plus, Sincero is absolutely HILARIOUS and I found myself laughing out loud quite often while reading this.

Simple Elephant Planner for Goals

Creating goals are an essential part of self care. It’s so easy to get swept up in the holiday happenings that you forget what it is you TRULY want your life to look like. This undated planner has sections for goals, gratitude, productivity tracking and more. This is a great gift for someone in need of some holiday self care.

Korean Skincare Pack

This pack of Korean Skincare Sheet Masks is such a nice way to relax and take a few minutes to yourself. I haven’t tried these ones personally, but I do love Korean skincare and this one has a nice variety! Perfect to lighten, tighten, moisturize, clarify, soften, brighten, etc. Do allll the skincare things!

Coffee Mug or Tea Mug

Coffee and tea are the cozy drinks she needs while binge reading “You Are a Badass.” Or at least, that’s what I did. This mug is inspirational and feminine, perfect to remind you or your girl that she is POWERFUL. After scouring Amazon, I’ve included a few extra inspirational (or just pretty) mugs below. Mugs are always a good gift option for holiday self care to either get caffeinated or unwind with an herbal tea!

Cozy Graphic T Shirt

You know what spreads joy and positivity? Sunshine. Also, coffee. Get you or your girl friend a cute graphic t shirt that reflects your vibes! These aren’t holiday-themed shirts, but they’re adorable year-round fashion pieces that reflect positivity : )

Watercolor Paint Set

How are watercolor paints the perfect holiday self care? Well, I know soooo many people who water color or paint as a hobby, and they all agree that it’s one of their favorite ways focus their mind away from their daily stressors and onto something creative. This set is perfect for beginners and more experienced watercolor painters. It comes with various brush sizes, a travel-friendly palette and a pad of paper specifically for watercolor.

Pro tip: Use the watercolor paints to create pretty patterns or borders along the outside of the paper, and use a bold marker to write inspirational quotes or scriptures in the middle! I had a friend in college who would do this to create motivational wall art for her friends. It’s easy, fun, and can totally brighten someone’s day.

Sometimes, when you’re feeling overwhelmed or got the holiday blues, the best medicine is to focus your energy on lifting up someone else.

Adult Coloring Books

Similar to watercoloring, painting books for adults have become a preferred method of relaxation in recent years. This coloring book is full of animals, mandalas, flowers and patterns to help ease stress and promote relaxation.

Pro tip: Color in complete silence OR while listening to your favorite calming music. My personal favorite is the Piano Opus album by Brian Crain. Check it out if you enjoy piano music!

Cozy Loungewear or PJs

Nothing says holiday self care like curling up in your favorite comfies to read a book, drink some tea, or watch Gossip Girl or Friends for the 100th time. Treat your girl friend or yourself to a cute, cozy loungewear set or pajamas. This set comes in a huge variety of other themes (like coffee, panda bears, flamingos, treats & sweets). I’ve linked some more cute options down below!

Cozy Throw or Blanket

During colder winter days (or during cool-er-ish winter days, if you live in warmer regions like sunny San Diego), a cozy blanket is such a welcomed gift. Get one for you or your friend and have a relaxing day in while avoiding the holiday craziness.

Voluspa Scented Candle

I worked in a boutique that sold these Voluspa candles so I basically smelled these for 3 months straight. And oh my gosh, they’re so amazing and PERFECT for burning while having a holiday self care day.

Are these a bit pricier than some candles you can grab at Target? Sure. But are they totally worth it because they have all-natural wicks and are free of phthalates, parabens and sulfates? Absolutely. Do they smell like they were made with the happy tears of Jesus while he was creating sunsets and true love and puppies? Heck YES.

Plus, they’re made of a coconut wax blend, so they burn up to 90% cleaner than soy candles.

I’ve linked the Goji Torocco Orange, but my other personal favorites are Baltic Amber and Santiago Huckleberry.

Yogi Tea Stress Relief Pack

I’m a big believer in herbal tea to relax and take away some stress. I looove the Yogi tea brand. This pack has several of my favorites, plus some others I’ve been meaning to try. The Kava Stress Relief can literally make you feel like you’re gonna pass out, so I suggest drinking that one before bed or when you have nothing else to do.

For more calming tea suggestions, check out my post on the best teas to drink before bed.

Cozy Bathrobe

A cute bathrobe is a great gift for someone in need of some holiday self care. Basically, anything that’s going to feel cozy and relaxing is a must have this holiday season. We’re not going out anywhere anyway, might as well get comfy!

Cute Quote Pillow Case

This pillow cover is SO cute, and definitely serves as a good reminder to your friend or yourself that you’re frickin’ awesome. And sparkly. And you brighten the world. This is just the pillow cover though! If you need a pillow to fit inside, check out this one that comes in different sizes. (The pillow case I linked is 16 in x 16 in.)

Inspirational Bracelets with a Hidden Message

Let me start by saying this bracelet design has a TON of other inspirational messages. Some are funny, some are serious. But honestly, my favorite ones have very colorful words in them aaaand I’m trying to keep this site family-friendly haha. But you should definitely take a look ’cause they’ve got some pretty hilarious and motivational quotes to choose from.

Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice

Michelle Obama’s guided journal is an excellent gift for anyone doing a little soul searching. Holiday self care is about more than face masks and sleeping in. This super weird year has given a lot of us the opportunity to work on ourselves, and look inward. And if you feel a bit stuck, this journal might be the perfect tool to help you do just that!

Thoughtful Message Capsule

This is the perfect pick-me-up for a friend who needs some encouragement. Each capsule has a blank piece of paper inside, so you can write whatever encouraging thought, quote, or funny comment to cheer someone up. They can open one up whenever they’re having a tough day or need to hear something positive. Be creative with it!

Self Care Reminders Wall Art

This wall art covers the essentials of self care and the reminders we ALL need to hear sometimes. This is great to put up in your bedroom, next to your bathroom mirror, or in your office space. Wherever you need a reminder that progress > perfection. If you’re more of a pink wall art person, the exact same wall art is available ""” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener nofollow”>here in pink.
